Photo, Story & Testimonial Release Policy
Effective date: July 19, 2026
We will never use your name, photo, video, quote, or personal story in any public materials — our website, newsletters, social media, grant reports, or anywhere else — unless you’ve signed a separate release specifically for that use.
How consent works
If we’d like to feature your photo, story, or testimonial publicly, we will:
- Ask you directly, in advance, and explain exactly where and how it would be used;
- Give you the chance to review the specific photo, quote, or story before it’s used;
- Have you sign a written release before anything is published;
- Never make this a condition of receiving services or participating in our programs.
You can change your mind
You can withdraw your consent for future use at any time by contacting us. If you withdraw consent, we’ll stop using your story or image going forward and remove it from materials we control (like our website). We may not be able to retrieve materials that have already been printed or distributed — for example, a printed annual report already mailed to donors — but we will not reprint or redistribute it.
De-identified stories
Sometimes we share composite or anonymized stories — for example, in a grant report — with details changed or removed so that no one could reasonably identify the specific person involved. Because these stories aren’t identifiable, a signed release isn’t required, but we’re always thoughtful about how we describe anyone’s experience, even anonymized.
Program photos
If a workshop session is photographed for internal purposes (for example, to document a class for our own records), those photos are not used publicly and are not shared outside The Welcome PDX unless a specific release has been signed for a specific public use, as described above.
