Accessibility Statement

The Welcome PDX is committed to making The Academy usable by everyone in our community, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing commitment, not a one-time project.
Built into the platform
- Larger text mode — increase text size across the site from the accessibility controls in the sidebar.
- High contrast mode — a higher-contrast color scheme for easier reading.
- Spanish / English toggle — core screens are available in both languages.
- Keyboard and screen reader support — forms use labeled fields, and pages follow a logical reading and navigation order.
- Quick exit — a safety feature that immediately leaves the site, for anyone who needs to exit quickly and privately.
Known limitations
We’re not aware of any parts of the site that are fully inaccessible, but some areas — particularly newer features, and third-party tools we embed for live video sessions — may not yet meet every guideline as well as the rest of the platform. We’re actively working through these.
Alternatives
If any part of the site or a specific workshop isn’t accessible to you, we want to know — and we’ll work with you directly on an alternative, whether that’s a different format for materials, an accommodation for a live session, or another way to access the same program.
